1. How to See the Serial Number on the Focus Screen
How you find the serial number on your Ford Focus depends on the model year and radio fitted.
Focus 2000–2011 — Ford 6000CD
The 6000CD is the most common radio in this generation and uses the preset 1+6 method:
- Turn ignition to ON and power on the radio.
- Press and hold preset 1 and preset 6 simultaneously.
- The display cycles through codes — write down the serial number (format:

Focus with Ford 4500 RDS
Some Focus models (particularly early base trim) used the 4500 RDS radio. This uses a different button combination:

Usual Serial Prefixes on Ford Focus Factory Units
The radio uses a serial beginning with M or V, followed by 6 digits — for example M054321. TravelPilot navigation units start with BP. The serial label is on the top or side of the radio unit.
Entering the Security Code on the Vehicle
With your code ready, it's time to enter it into the Ford Focus's radio.
The locked radio will usually show a "CODE" prompt.
