MyGIG vs Modern Uconnect: What's The Difference?
A Bit of History
Back in the late 2000s, Chrysler partnered with Harman to create MyGIG - their first serious attempt at a modern infotainment system. It was actually pretty advanced for its time with the hard drive storage and touchscreen navigation.
Around 2013-2014, they started transitioning to the "Uconnect" branding, which is what you see in newer vehicles today. Same manufacturer (Harman), but updated software and hardware. Think of MyGIG as the grandfather of today's Uconnect systems.

Which Vehicles Have MyGIG NTG4 REZ?
The MyGIG NTG4 REZ was Harman's premium navigation system before they switched to the Uconnect branding we know today. If you've got a Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, or RAM from around 2008-2016 with a touchscreen and navigation, there's a good chance you're looking at a MyGIG system.
Here's what makes it interesting: MyGIG radios have a built-in hard drive (usually 20GB or 30GB) where you can store your music collection. Pretty cool for the time! The NTG4 generation brought better graphics and faster processing compared to the earlier NTG1 and NTG2 models.

What Makes the REZ Model Special:
- Hard Drive Storage: Built-in 20GB or 30GB drive for ripping CDs and storing music
- Real Navigation: Not just a display for your phone - actual built-in GPS with maps
- Touchscreen: 6.5-inch resistive touchscreen (the kind you can use with gloves)
- Voice Commands: Basic voice recognition for hands-free operation
- Bluetooth Streaming: Connect your phone for calls and music
- Sirius Radio: Built-in SiriusXM satellite radio receiver
- Backup Camera: Compatible with rear-view camera display
Quick Tip: If your radio says "MyGIG" when it boots up (not "Uconnect"), and you've got navigation with a hard drive, you're definitely looking at an NTG4 system. The REZ designation means it's the high-end version with all the bells and whistles.
Is this your radio?
REZ is the mid-tier MyGIG navigation unit - 6.5-inch touchscreen with map nav, but using a smaller flash storage instead of the 30 GB HDD found in RER. The look and feel of the menus is identical; performance is slightly faster on map redraws.
Vehicles with Chrysler MyGIG NTG4 REZ
- 2011-2013: Chrysler 200, 300, Town & Country
- 2011-2013: Dodge Avenger, Durango, Grand Caravan, Journey, Charger, Challenger
- 2011-2013: Jeep Compass, Grand Cherokee WK2 (base nav trims), Liberty, Patriot, Wrangler JK
- 2011-2013: Ram 1500/2500/3500
REZ uses part numbers in the P05064247, P05064248, P05064760, P05064761 ranges (plus PZ5064247AK). If your part number starts with P05064080 or P05064114 you have a RER, not a REZ.
Where to find your serial number
White label on the top of the chassis, near the back-right corner. The radio must come out; REZ has no on-screen serial display.
Format on the label: T00AM##### or T00BE##### (5 digits). Example: T00AM31882.
How to enter the code once you receive it
Touchscreen four-digit keypad appears on the locked screen. Enter the digits then tap the green check mark. If you dismiss the keypad accidentally, press CODE in the lower row.
Why your radio is locked
Loss of constant 12V to the radio - dead battery, battery replacement, jump-start gone wrong, or the radio being removed from the dash. REZ will not lock while it has uninterrupted power.
If you entered the wrong code
Three wrong codes show "WAIT" and start a 60-minute countdown. Keep the ignition in RUN or ACC while waiting; cutting power resets the timer back to 60 minutes. Once the timer ends the correct code clears the screen and is remembered until the next power loss.
