Can't Locate Your Radio S/N? Follow These Steps for Honda Accord 2015
The initial step is locating the radio serial number.
Most people assume the code depends on the Honda model or year, but actually, the unlock process depends on the unique radio unit's serial number.
The serial is the key used to calculate the correct unlock code.
This is actually better, because if you have a used radio, the VIN or other vehicle-specific data wouldn't help.
Based on the radio used, you can see the serial directly from the display or by checking the label on the radio chassis.
2015 Honda Accord factory radio options
For 2015 the 9th gen Accord carried over the 2014 audio lineup with minor refinements. LX / LX-S (coupe): 160-watt AM/FM/CD with four speakers (six on LX-S), USB and Bluetooth, plus the non-touch 8-inch i-MID upper display. Sport: Same CD-based head unit as LX with additional speakers; no factory touchscreen. EX: Adds the 7-inch Display Audio (HDA) capacitive touchscreen below the i-MID for media, phone and settings. EX-L: 360-watt premium audio with subwoofer, HD Radio, Pandora and SiriusXM, plus the 7-inch Display Audio touchscreen. EX-L V6 with Navigation: Adds the 8-inch Display Audio with Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation and voice recognition. Touring (sedan): 8-inch Display Audio with factory navigation, voice recognition, HondaLink and the available Honda Sensing safety suite. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not offered on any 2015 Accord trim - those arrive with the 2016 mid-cycle refresh.
Display-Based Serial Number Retrieval
These are the steps you need to follow for 2015 Honda Accord:
The 2015 Honda Accord may be equipped with Honda's Display Audio system (8" depending on trim) or a base non-touchscreen radio. Both types support serial number retrieval via the 1+6 button method:
- Turn ignition to ON. Let the radio to power up. The screen shows "CODE" when anti-theft is active.
- Press and hold preset buttons 1 and 6 for approximately 3-5 seconds.
- The serial number appears in two halves (e.g.,
U3210+L0482).
Alternative: On 2015 Accord with the Display Audio touchscreen, navigate to Settings → System → Device Information – the serial may be displayed there instead of the button combination.
Displaying the radio serial on a 2015 Accord
LX / Sport CD head units: Turn the ignition to ACC and the radio off. Press and hold preset buttons 1 and 6 while pressing power. The display alternates between a U-prefix block (e.g. U2200) and an L-prefix block (e.g. L0055); combine them into the 8-digit serial.
EX 7-inch Display Audio: Power the unit on, tap Settings > System (or System Settings) > System Information / Device Info. The serial is displayed there.
EX-L / EX-L V6 Nav / Touring 8-inch Display Audio: Same Settings > System > System Information menu path on the touchscreen.
Dealer mode ("DISP + MODE" hold): Some Honda dealer service literature mentions a dealer-mode hold sequence on HDA units, but it has not been independently confirmed for every 2015 Accord variant. If the on-screen Settings menu is unreachable because the unit is locked on CODE, the most reliable approach is to remove the unit and read the printed serial from the chassis label.
Locate Serial on Accord's Radio Chassis
If the serial number cannot be accessed via display, use the removal method.
Most Honda Accord OEM radios include a tag with the serial number printed on the housing.
The process:
- Shut down the car.
- Carefully remove surrounding mounting frame.
- Loosen screws holding the radio.
- Pull forward to inspect the label.
If none of these methods display the serial on the 2015 Honda Accord:
- Power down the vehicle.
- Remove the center stack trim panel. The 2015 Accord's integrated dashboard uses snap-fit clips.
- On touchscreen trims: Remove the mounting screws (Phillips-head) securing the display module.
- For standard radios: Unscrew the four screws holding the head unit.
- Slide the unit out and locate the serial on the label on the back or side.
Tip: The Display Audio unit is wider and more integrated than the standard radio. Be careful when removing it.
Removing the radio on a 2015 Honda Accord
Safety first: Apply the parking brake, switch the ignition off, disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait at least three minutes for the SRS (airbag) capacitor to discharge before working near the dash. The 9th gen Accord has airbag and safety-sensing wiring routed close to the centre stack.
The factory head-unit/i-MID assembly is integrated into the dash, so the trim around it is removed before the unit comes free. Start by prying up the upper receiver trim panel from the rear (windscreen) edge with a plastic panel tool; release all ten retaining clips and lift the panel away, disconnecting the hazard-switch harness if needed.
Remove the two Phillips screws now exposed at the top of the receiver bezel. Then pry out the console side trim panels (five clips each side) and the lower bezel, remove the two screws securing the console pocket and pull the pocket out, then unscrew the two 8 mm bolts holding the lower receiver brackets to the dash.
Pry the head unit forward, releasing the six final clips, and disconnect the main wiring harnesses, antenna lead, USB extension, and (on EX-L Nav / Touring) the GPS antenna and external amplifier connectors before lifting the assembly clear.

S/N Patterns and Prefixes
Depending on which radio fitted to the 2015 Honda Accord:
U1234L5678– Classic Honda OEM formatHBM####– Used in Display Audio and nav-equipped units913A####– Certain Alpine-manufactured units
The 2015 Accord may have: base CD radio (U/L format), Display Audio 5"/7" (HBM format), or navigation unit (HBM format). All use a 5-digit unlock code.
Important Make sure you read the serial number, not the part number (which starts with 39100, 39101, or similar Honda part coding).
2015 Accord radio serial format
The 2015 Accord uses Honda's standard 8-character alphanumeric radio serial. On classic CD-style head units it is presented as two halves: a U-prefixed upper block and an L-prefixed lower block (for example U1234 and L5678), which concatenate, ignoring the U and L, into the 8-digit number used on Honda's code portal. On 7-inch and 8-inch Display Audio units the serial is usually printed on the chassis label as a single string, often starting with U or M; transcribe it exactly. Spaces or dashes in printed labels can be ignored - only the alphanumeric sequence is required.
How Serial-Based Honda Accord Radio Unlock Works
- Instead of contacting Honda dealer or searching forums you can find the code online with the radio serial number.
- Start by finding your radio's serial. You will always find it on the unit itself, and in some cases you can see it on the Accord's display.
- Type it into the field above, and our system will generate the correct 2015 Accord unlock code.
- When you receive the code, input it using Accord's radio controls to unlock the system successfully.
- The entire process takes only a few minutes and requires minimal effort.
Inputting the Security Code
Once you receive the correct unlock code based on the S/N, you can restore default functionality by entering it into the unit.
The code entry process depends on the control layout, but most 2015 Accord systems follow a similar structure using preset buttons, touch controls, or rotary knobs - depending on if it's a factory or an aftermarket unit.
You will typically see SAFE displayed on screen.
Step-by-Step Code Input Guide
To enter the code on the 2015 Honda Accord:
- Ignition ON. Radio shows "CODE" or "ENTER CODE".
- Non-touchscreen models: Use preset buttons 1-5 to select each digit, then hold button 6 to confirm.
- Display Audio touchscreen: An on-screen keypad appears. Tap each digit and press "Enter" or "OK".
Lockout: 3 wrong attempts trigger a 60-minute lockout. Keep ignition ON. Do not cycle the key or the timer starts over.
LX / Sport CD head units: Use preset buttons 1-5 to enter the five digits in order, then press preset 6 or the ENTER button to confirm.
EX 7-inch Display Audio and EX-L / Touring 8-inch Display Audio: A numeric keypad appears on the touchscreen at the CODE prompt - tap the five digits in order, then tap Enter or Done to confirm. The system returns to normal radio operation once the code is accepted. If the code is rejected, the unit may pause input for ten minutes; leave the ignition in ACC and try again after the timer.
Accord 2015 Common Radio Problems
Code entry depends on the exact radio variant in the 2014–2021 Accord:
- Non-touchscreen base radio: Use preset buttons 1–5 to cycle to each digit, then press and hold button 6 to confirm — identical to older Honda platforms.
- Display Audio 5" or 7" touchscreen: An on-screen numeric keypad appears when the code prompt is active. Tap each digit and press OK or Enter on screen.
Should the touch input not work, attempt the physical preset buttons — some units support either input method. Make sure the screen is fully powered on before starting entry.
If the Display Audio screen comes on but goes straight to the home screen without any "CODE" prompt, consider these points:
- Anti-theft may not have triggered — some battery changes skip the lock if done quickly enough.
- Certain Display Audio units, the code prompt shows only on the audio portion of the screen, not the navigation display — give it a few seconds after startup.
- Try the Settings → System → Device Information route; should the serial appear, the unit may still be functional without a code.
If none of these apply, a fuse check is the next step — a failed fuse prevents the radio from showing any display at all.
The Display Audio era includes radios using multiple serial prefixes depending on the trim level:
U####L####— base CD radio serial (10 characters, two halves).HBM####— Display Audio 5"/7" and navigation units.913A####— some Alpine OEM units.
Part numbers on the same label start with 39100 or 39101 — do not submit these. When in doubt, use the Settings → Device Information menu or the 1+6 button method to retrieve the serial directly from the radio.
For Display Audio-era Honda radios, a rejected code is typically caused by the serial was taken from the wrong source. Either retrieval method can produce the correct serial — double-check that the serial you submitted was read off the radio unit and not from an online database.
After one failed entry, pause and contact support before trying again — another incorrect entry gets you one step closer to the 60-minute lockout. A no-charge serial reverification can be done on request.
The Display Audio platform uses the same 3-attempt lockout as earlier Honda radios. To exit lockout:
- Keep the ignition in ON or ACC — do not switch off.
- Allow the full 60-minute period. The touchscreen may go to sleep during this time — this is expected.
- After 60 minutes, the radio re-displays "CODE" and you can.
On Display Audio touchscreen models, the lockout countdown runs in the background. Simply leave the vehicle running or the ignition on ACC for the full hour.
What Caused the Radio to Lock?
Honda's Display Audio system retains the same anti-theft architecture as earlier radios: losing battery power causes a code request at next startup. This affects both the non-touchscreen radio and the Display Audio unit.
- Battery replacement — by far the most frequent cause.
- Battery disconnect during repairs — service that interrupts battery power will re-engage the lock.
- Completely dead battery — a fully discharged battery also triggers the request.
Note: many higher-end Display Audio models from the 2014–2021 period might not use a traditional code-based lock — if the radio never prompted for a code after a battery change, it could have a different anti-theft method linked to the vehicle VIN.
