Understanding the Radio Serial Number and How to Locate It on 2007 Caliber
The initial step is writing down the radio serial number.
Most people assume the code depends on the Dodge model or year, but actually, the whole process depends on the unique radio's serial number.
Each radio has its own serial tied to the security system.
This is even better, because if you have bought an aftermarket radio, the VIN or other Dodge-specific data wouldn't be of much use.
Depending on the radio version used, you can see the serial directly from the screen or by looking at the label on the radio chassis.
Factory Radios on the 2007 Dodge Caliber
The launch-year Caliber was offered with a small family of pre-MyGIG Mopar head units, all sized to the same single-DIN center-stack opening. The sales code is printed on the lower right corner of the radio faceplate, which is the quickest way to confirm what you have.
REF - AM/FM/CD with Aux input. Base radio on SE/SXT trims and by far the most common unit in the 2007 fleet. Visually it is a single-DIN deck with a small monochrome display, single CD slot, two rotary knobs (volume left, tune right) and six numbered preset buttons. No cassette door, no satellite/Sirius branding on the face. Most prevalent.
RAQ - AM/FM with 6-disc CD/MP3 changer. Optional upgrade. Same single-DIN footprint as the REF but with a wider, slightly upgraded display and a single in-dash slot that loads up to six discs; an Aux jack sits on the lower face. No cassette door. Mid-volume option.
RAK - AM/FM with 6-disc CD/MP3 plus cassette. Optional combo unit aimed at buyers who still wanted a tape deck. Identifiable by the cassette door above the CD slot and the slightly busier face plate. Lower take rate.
REC - AM/FM/6-disc CD/MP3 navigation. Top option, ordered with the navigation package. The giveaway is a 5.8-inch full-color display dominating the face plate, an eight-way joystick to the right of the screen, and a unique satin silver navigation bezel (Mopar P/N 82210579) that does not interchange with non-nav cars. Rare on Calibers. Note: MyGIG (REN/RBZ) was not factory-available on 2007 Calibers; any touchscreen MyGIG you see on a 2007 car is a retrofit.
Access Your Serial Number via the Radio Screen
Try the following for your 2007 Dodge Caliber:
The 2007 Dodge Caliber could have the REF (AM/FM CD player), RES 130 (Media Center), or RAQ (base 6-disc CD) radio. None of these include on-screen serial number retrieval.
The serial number must be found by pulling the unit out and reading the label on the housing. Check for a barcode sticker on the side of the radio unit.
Pulling Out the Radio to View the S/N on the Tag
If the serial number cannot be accessed via display, use the removal method.
Most Dodge Caliber factory radios include a sticker with the serial number printed on the casing.
Process details:
- Ensure the ignition is off.
- Lift away surrounding dashboard trim.
- Release clips holding the radio.
- Pull forward to inspect the label.
The 2007 Caliber's radio is installed in the center of the dash. To extract it:
- Power down the vehicle.
- Remove the trim panel surrounding the head unit. The Caliber uses snap-fit clips – start from the top and work around the edges using a plastic tool.
- Unscrew the 4 mounting screws securing the radio.
- Pull the radio forward and read the serial number on the side or rear label.
Note: The Caliber's center trim includes the climate controls. Be gentle to avoid breaking the plastic clips.
View Serial by Pulling Out the Radio Unit
The 2007 Dodge Caliber typically shipped with pre-MyGIG Mopar head units (such as the REF AM/FM/CD or the RES Media Center 130). On these units the serial number is printed on a label affixed to the metal chassis, so the only reliable way to read it is to take the radio out of the dash.
Safety first:
- Turn the ignition off and remove the key.
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal and let the vehicle sit for at least 10-15 minutes so the SRS/airbag capacitors can discharge.
- Avoid touching the yellow airbag wiring you may see behind the dash.
- Use plastic trim removal tools to protect the soft-touch dash plastics; metal screwdrivers will leave permanent marks.
Tools you will want on hand:
- Plastic trim/pry tool set
- 7 mm socket and a Phillips screwdriver
- Soft cloth or painter's tape to protect the bezel edges
- A small container for the four radio bracket screws
Removal overview for the 2007 Caliber center stack:
- Pull up firmly on the shift knob to release it (manual or automatic) and lift off the shift bezel collar.
- Starting at the bottom edge of the center radio bezel, work a plastic trim tool behind the trim and gently pry outward. The bezel is held by clips along each side - move side to side and bottom to top to release them.
- Tilt the bezel forward enough to reach behind it and disconnect any switch and HVAC control connectors. The white retainers on the HVAC cables can be released with a small flat tool.
- With the bezel out of the way, remove the four screws securing the radio chassis (one near each corner).
- Slide the head unit straight out of the dash opening, then unplug the wiring harness and antenna lead. Pull the antenna by the connector, never by the cable.
Where the serial number lives: Once the radio is out, look at the top, side and rear of the metal case. You should find a printed label (often with a barcode) that lists the part number and a long serial number - that is the value the code calculator needs.
Tips: Photograph the label rather than copying it by hand, double-check the characters before submitting (a misread 0/O or 1/I is the most common cause of a wrong code), and reinstall the radio in the reverse order you removed it.

Common Serial Number Structures
Typical radio models in the 2007 Caliber:
- REF (AM/FM CD, 66W) – Serial prefix:
TM9 - RES 130 (Media Center 130, CD/MP3) – Serial prefix:
TM9orT00AM - RAQ (base 6-disc AM/FM/CD) – Serial prefix:
TM9 - MyGIG REP/RBZ 430 (if equipped) – Serial prefix:
TM9
All serial numbers are 14 characters. The Caliber shared its head unit platform with the Jeep Patriot and Jeep Compass of the same era.
Typical Serial Number Formats for 2007 Caliber Radios
Mopar head units fitted to the 2007 Caliber generally carry a serial number that begins with the letter T, but the exact pattern varies by radio model and supplier. Older Mopar units like the REF and RES are not part of the modern MyGIG family, so their labels can look a little different from the prefixes you may have seen on later Chrysler/Dodge vehicles.
In most cases the printed serial on the chassis label tends to:
- start with a T followed by a short letter/number group (for example a TM-, T00- or similar opener);
- continue with a longer alphanumeric run that includes the production code and a unique unit identifier;
- be displayed alongside a barcode and the Mopar/Chrysler part number on the same label.
Because Chrysler used several radio suppliers during this period, treat any specific prefix as an example rather than a guarantee. The safest approach is to copy the full string exactly as it appears on the chassis label, including any leading letters, and let the calculator validate the format.
Radio Code Input Guide
Now that you've found the S/N and retrieved the unlock code, the last step is entering it into your radio.
Dodge original head units display a CODE prompt when ready for input.
The process is usually simple, but button layouts and confirmation methods may vary depending on the radio version installed in your Caliber.
In-depth Input Instructions for Caliber 2007
To input the radio code on your 2007 Dodge Caliber:
- Turn ignition ON. The radio shows "CODE".
- Non-touchscreen (REF/RES/RAQ): Press preset button 1 repeatedly to set the first digit. Repeat with buttons 2, 3, 4. Hold Enter/OK to confirm.
- Touchscreen (MyGIG 430): Tap the on-screen keypad to enter all 4 digits.
Lockout: Several incorrect attempts trigger a lockout. Keep the radio on for approximately 60 minutes to clear.
Step-by-Step Code Input Guide
Once you have the unlock code for your 2007 Dodge Caliber, entering it on the original Mopar head unit is straightforward, but the radio is unforgiving about wrong attempts. Read the warning below before you start typing.
Limited Attempts Warning: Mopar legacy radios on this generation typically allow only three consecutive code attempts. After the third wrong entry the display switches to WAIT and the keypad is locked. To clear the lockout you must leave the ignition in the RUN position - radio powered, but engine not necessarily running - for a continuous 30 minutes. Only after that timer elapses will the unit accept a fresh attempt, so always double-check each digit before pressing it.
Step-by-step entry:
- Turn the ignition key to the RUN or ACC position so the radio powers up. The display should show
CODE(or a similar anti-theft prompt). - Use preset buttons 1 through 6 on the radio faceplate to enter each digit of your code in order - press preset 1 for a 1, preset 2 for a 2, and so on.
- If your radio has a dedicated Enter or OK soft key, press it after the last digit. On simpler REF/RES units the radio will accept the sequence automatically once all digits are entered.
- The display should clear and the radio should return to normal operation. If it does not, do not immediately retry - verify the serial and code first.
If WAIT appears: leave the ignition in RUN and let the timer count down. Do not pull the radio fuse or disconnect the battery; that will not shortcut the lockout and may extend it.
How to Unlock a Dodge Caliber Radio After Power Loss
To get the code, you'll take only a few simple steps.
- Find your radio's serial number - this is the only info required by our side.
The difference with the dealership lookup is that no VIN is needed. - Enter the serial number into our generator above.
The system checks it against a database of supported factory radios and automatically finds the matching anti-theft code. - In most cases, the code appears instantly on the screen after payment and is also sent to your email , just in case.
If manual verification is required (rare situations), you'll be notified before checkout. - Once you receive the code, simply enter it into the radio to restore full functionality.
Caliber 2007 Common Radio Problems
In this era of Dodge vehicles, a rejected code almost always traces back to the wrong serial being submitted. Multiple numbers appear on the radio label — look for the one that begins with TM9 or T00AM and is exactly 14 characters. The part number (P05064...) looks similar but will not generate a code.
If the code was rejected, check the serial again carefully and reach out to us if you want a free re-check.
The Caliber's radio locks out after 3 wrong attempts. The display shows "WAIT" or just stops responding. To wait it out:
- Keep the key in the ON position for about 60 minutes.
- Turning the key off restarts the timer from scratch.
Calibers are particularly prone to aging batteries which cause this more often than on newer vehicles. After the lockout clears, enter the code slowly.
When no code prompt appears after a power event:
- Confirm the ignition is in ON — not just ACC to display the code screen.
- Inspect the fuse in the fuse panel — the Caliber's fuse box is under the hood. A blown fuse prevents any display.
- Attempt pressing the power button on the radio front panel to trigger the code prompt.
Aging Calibers occasionally have corroded fuse contacts that mimic a blown fuse.
How you enter the code on the Caliber varies with which radio is fitted:
- REF, RES 130, RAQ (non-touchscreen) — Press preset button 1 cycling to select the first digit, button 2 for digit two, button 3 for digit three, button 4 for digit four. After that, hold Enter/OK to submit.
- MyGIG REP/RBZ 430 (touchscreen) — Tap each digit directly on the touchscreen. The radio auto-confirms required.
Not sure of your radio model, check the screen — a touchscreen means MyGIG 430; a non-touch face means preset button entry.
The Caliber's radio must be removed to read the serial label, as none of the Caliber's radios have on-screen serial display. On the label:
- Serial number — 14 characters, beginning with
TM9orT00AM. This is the number you need. - Part number — commonly
P05064...or68.... Not used.
These stickers can age, the print may have faded. Good lighting and take a photo before reassembling.
Why Did the Radio Lock and Ask for a Code?
The Caliber is among the Dodge models where battery-related radio locking is a well-known issue. Reasons include:
- Battery failure or disconnect — Caliber batteries from this era age badly, and every disconnect reactivates the radio lock.
- Dead battery from sitting — Calibers left parked for weeks can drain enough to lock the radio.
- Blown fuse — fuse replacement also counts as power loss.
- Used purchase — These are affordable used cars, so a lot of buyers find the radio locked when they buy one.
Whatever triggered it, the unlock code is permanently linked to the serial number and does not change.
