You may be able to find it on the radio body. Common labels to look for: S/N, SN, Serial, Serial Number.
1. How to See the Serial Number on the TSX Screen
Accessing the Serial Number in Acura TSX
The Acura TSX (2004–2014) is Acura's sport sedan, sharing its platform with the European Honda Accord. It uses Honda's reliable radio serial display system, allowing you to retrieve the serial without removing the unit.
Standard Radio (Non-Navigation):
- Turn the ignition ON, radio shows "CODE".
- Turn the radio OFF.
- Press and hold preset buttons 1 and 6.
- While holding, turn the radio ON.
- Serial appears as
U#### L####.
Navigation-Equipped Models:
- 2004–2008 TSX (1st Gen) – Models with navigation: hold the upper halves of SEEK/SKIP and CH/DISC bars, then press PWR/VOL.
- 2009–2014 TSX (2nd Gen) – Technology Package with navigation: press and hold CANCEL + MAP + MENU to open the diagnostic menu, then navigate to Detail Information → ECU Information.

Step 1: Turn off the the ignition.
Step 2: After that, remove the dashboard trim.
Step 3: Then release the mounting clips.

Common Situations Requiring a Code
Dealing with a locked Acura TSX radio? Usually, it was caused by one of these well-known events.
Radio Locked After Battery Replacement
After a battery replacement, your radio may stop working.
This happens because the radio loses power, which activates the anti-theft system.
Other Possible Triggers
- A fuse removal can cause the Acura TSX radio to lock.
- Jump-starting the vehicle can trigger anti-theft mode, requiring the PIN.
- After an ECU or software reset, the radio may enter security mode.
- Installing a replacement head unit will trigger the original radio code.
Free Options First
There is a chance your Acura TSX radio code is already somewhere in your car.
Before using a paid service, quickly check the places below - it costs nothing to look.
Look for it in the Car Itself
- On the head unit itself, if it was serviced earlier.
- In the spare wheel area, on a service sticker.
- In your maintenance booklet from the previous owner.
- In the vehicle handbook, often on a sticker page.
- Inside the center console, sometimes on a small card.
Through the Dealer
Dealerships can generate your radio code by checking the vehicle records in their system.
They typically require proof of ownership before sharing the unlock code.
This is the official way to restore access to the factory radio.
Downsides:
- You may need to contact service support during business hours.
- Dealers frequently bill for the code (sometimes more than 100$).
- Some imported or older radios may not be in their database.
- The lookup is often slower and may require waiting.
Now You Have the Code. How the Entering Process Works?
You need to input the anti-theft code into the system to unlock your Acura's radio.
In the locked unit, the screen usually displays a security message.
Based on the radio, use radio presets, control knob, or touchscreen to enter the numbers, then submit the code to reactivate the audio system.
To enter your Acura TSX unlock code:
- Turn the ignition ON – The radio displays "CODE".
- Use preset buttons 1 through 5 to enter your 5-digit code. Press each button to cycle through digits.
- Confirm by pressing and holding button 6 for 2–5 seconds.
Navigation Code: TSX models with factory navigation may need a separate 4-digit navigation code. This is derived from the same serial number as the radio code.
Lockout Warning: After multiple incorrect attempts, the radio shows "ERR". Disconnect the battery for 10–15 minutes to reset the attempt counter.
Radio Code - Quick Explanation
A radio unlock code, also known as an anti-theft code is a numeric security code that unlocks your factory radio after it has been disabled.
This security code is triggered when the radio loses power.
Car manufacturers use this security system to prevent stolen radios from being reused.
If power is cut, the radio locks automatically and requires the unlock CODE before it can work again.
Once the right combination is entered, the stereo is fully reactivated.
Frequent Questions about Acura TSX Radio Code
Not all of them require a radio code, but many factory radios use it as an anti-theft feature.
Some series may still use a code depending on the radio unit.
Free codes are rare.
You might locate the code in the owner's booklet or from a dealer, but most require a database lookup.
Yes. Each radio unit has its own unlock code.
A replacement radio will need its correct security code to work.
For most Honda radios: turn the ignition ON, turn the radio OFF, then hold preset buttons 1 and 6 while turning the radio back ON. The serial number will appear on the display as a complete number or in two parts (U#### and L####).
For navigation-equipped models (2008–2019), press and hold CANCEL + MAP + MENU simultaneously to access the diagnostic menu, then navigate to Detail Information → Unit Check → ECU Information. See our full Honda serial number guide for all methods.
Honda and Acura radio codes are 5 digits long, using only digits 1 through 6 (no zeros, sevens, eights, or nines). This is different from most other manufacturers that use 4-digit codes.
You enter the code using the preset buttons 1–5 on the radio. Each button press corresponds to one digit of the code.
