Is this your radio?
RAD is the base Alpine AM/FM/CD single-DIN head unit - simpler than RAE, no premium amp drive, no SiriusXM. Plain LCD display, six preset buttons, single CD slot. Common entry-level fitment across mid-2000s Chrysler/Dodge passenger cars.
Chrysler vehicles with Chrysler RAD Alpine
- 2002-2008: Chrysler PT Cruiser, Sebring, Town & Country (base trims)
- 2002-2008: Dodge Caravan, Stratus, Neon (base audio)
- 2002-2008: Jeep Liberty KJ, Wrangler TJ (base CD)
RAD has only AM/FM/CD - no cassette, no premium-amp pre-out, no SiriusXM. If your face has a SAT button or an EQ button row, you do not have RAD. RAD part numbers carry the P04858513, P04858543, P05064385, P05091601 or P56038585 prefix.
Where to find your serial number
Top of the radio chassis on a white printed sticker. The radio must be removed from the dash - on most RAD applications, four DIN-removal keys release the unit; on PT Cruiser and Liberty trim there are two 7mm bolts to undo first.
Format on the label: TQ1AA / TT1AA / T**AA (10-character T-prefix). Example: TT1AA9981102.
How to enter the code once you receive it
Power up - the display shows "CODE 0000" or four dashes. Use preset 1 to step the first digit up, preset 2 for the second digit, etc. Hold or press preset 5 (sometimes labelled CHK) to confirm. The radio plays a short tone on success.
Why your radio is locked
Loss of 12V to the radio - typical triggers are a flat battery, battery swap during service, or the radio being removed for inspection.
If you entered the wrong code
After three wrong codes the display reads "WAIT" with a 60-minute lockout. Leave the key in ACC; the radio counts down only while it has power applied. Once the timer expires the keypad reactivates and the correct code clears it.
